The Colombo Agile Conference evolved from the Colombo Agile Camps, one of the many initiatives that was kicked off the by the Colombo Camps Community back in 2012. Essentially a smaller version of the Agile Conference, these interactive camps brought together practitioners to solve day-to-day challenges faced by Agile teams in order to streamline offshore Agile development strategies. Although held on a lesser scale, these camps too featured international Agile experts.
It was this camp and the growing interest in Agile methodologies by those in the IT industry that showed the Sri Lankan Agile community tthe scope for an event such as the Colombo Agile Conference – and here we are in our third year already!
The CCC is an independent community of software developers, with a common goal of improving the competencies of members of the Sri Lankan IT community. This concept of forming the community from technical personnel of the local IT industry, in an effort to bridge gaps prevalent in the IT sector in terms of knowledge and skills. This initiative is a collective attempt to place Sri Lanka on the global map as a hub for IT knowledge services.
Since its establishment, the CCC has played a vital role in bringing together specialists in various IT-related niche segments. It has done so through a series of camps, meetups and conferences, each of which see higher participation each time and more interesting and complex concepts and ideas discussed at them.
These include the Colombo iPhone Dev Camp, Colombo SharePoint Camp, Colombo Code Camp, Colombo Agile Camp, Colombo Architecture Meetup, Colombo PerfTest Meetup, Colombo Mobile Developer Meetup, Colombo Security Meetup, Colombo Selenium Meetup, Colombo Agile Conference, Software Product Engineering Conference and the Colombo UX Conference.
The Colombo Agile Conference 2014 featured 14 speakers, both local and international, and over 400 participants, making it Sri Lanka’s largest gathering of ‘Agilists’. The conference consisted of keynote speeches delivered by some of the international speakers in the morning, which was followed by technical tracks on ‘Agile QA’, ‘Dev Ops’, ‘Scrum Shortcuts’ and ‘Agile Metrics’. As in 2013, the participants of the 2014 conference rated the conference highly and were very impressed by the calibre of the speakers as well as the content of the presentations
